Taking a cue from contemporary Gabriel Orozco, we tackled this unit, 'Game Changers' to take an old or familiar game and give it a new CONTEXT
The students really took off with this one. Following a series of brainstorming, research and experiments, they created new games, some from found objects, some using original game pieces, but with new twists. At the conclusion, students turned in the game, evidence of their process, explanations, and then we spent a class period PLAYING the games of course!! Finally students participated in a group critique reflecting on the fun factor, challenges, and creativity involved in each game. Here are some examples:
